Reflective Encounters
“Trees topple as chainsaw-wielding loggers happily hum Ravel’s Bolero, the crashes of leaves bolstering their operatic rhythm. Thus begins a chain reaction which exposes the hysterical life-cycle of contemporary capitalism, a circle that begins with the death of life and ends with another spectacular end to life. Dr Strangelove has nothing on director’s Suki’s vision!
Using a restricted colour palette of purples, browns and white, Suki focuses on the lines between modern business, from technology to warfare to fashion, and links them with that pounding refrain of Bolero, which is hummed by just about every character within this world. Mondo Domino has a vast ambition, and manages to stay clear and propulsive through the use of simple framing. Even as dozens of characters move through an image, Suki’s steady hand keeps each individual location static for long enough so that every shot has a clear purpose. As Mondo Domino escalates, the one constant is that a population’s mob mentality in the pursuit of greed always makes things worse. And though that rings painfully true, Suki’s style is in a world of its own.”

Director’s Statement
Mondo Domino" is a satirico-burlesque action musical tragi-comedy, all in six minutes. It is therefore a film without downtime, voluntarily asphyxiating, in the image of a world that goes faster and faster, and where very often reality exceeds fiction.
In short, World champions of domino!
